OUR GUIDE TO RAW PET FOOD

We know switching to a raw pet food diet can seem a little daunting. Dry food seems easier: open, pour, done. While that's definitely true, the extra effort in feeding your pets raw is worth it. And we're here to make it easy.

STORAGE

When you go grocery shopping and buy beef, chicken, or turkey do you stick it in the freezer when you get home? If so, do the same for your raw pet food! Stick it in the freezer until you need it.

THAWING

When you're ready to feed your pet, you can thaw it out by sticking it in the fridge the night before. Once thawed, we recommend keeping poultry for no more than 3 days, and red meat no more than 5 days. Even better, if you're portioning it out, store it in sealable glass containers.

But don't rely on just our recommendations! This is raw meat, and if you eat meat then you know what bad meat looks like! If there are colour changes, a smell, a change in texture, don't feed it to your pet.

If you wouldn't eat it, don't feed it!

HANDLING & SERVING

To serve your raw pet food, you'll need to thaw it and serve it in whatever bowl or plate your pet prefers. Just wash your hands before and after, as well as any utensils, surfaces, or dishes you use. Remember, the same rules that you use when you handle your own meals, applies to your pets raw meals as well.

Feeding Guidelines:

PUPPIES
10 lb = 0.5 lb per day
20 lb = 1 lb per day
30 lb = 1.5 lb per day
40 lb = 2 lb per day

(Feed your puppy until it is full grown 1 yr for a small or medium dog or 2 yrs for a larger breed)

MATURE DOGS
25-lb = 0.5 lb per day
50-lb = 1 lb per day
75-lb = 1.5 lbs per day
100-lb = 2 lbs per day.

Generally, mature dogs should be fed about 2% of their ideal body weight, and puppies about 5%.

Remember this varies according to activity levels.
